TGIF
This week was our annual Spring Fling week and it has been so much fun so far! It was themed around Dr. Seuss-even our t-shirts! I went to the magician, Mike Super (yes that’s his real name, I kid you not) on Tuesday and he was absolutely amazing! Not only did his tricks leave me clueless but his jokes kept me laughing the entire time. Apparently he’s even coming out with his own show! I’m definately looking forward to that. I didn’t go to bowling wednesday but I did go to the Gong Show yesterday. All the students did an awesome job, I’m really glad I went.
Tonight is the semi-formal spring fling dance. Unfortunately, I won’t be going this year, though it sounds like a blast. I know last year I had a lot of fun. Instead, this year my roomie and I are gonna go get food and go shopping.
Tomorrow night is the Student Art show and I’m really really looking forward to that since many of my friends are art majors and have some pieces in the show. Besides, there will be free food and that’s always a plus!

A Comedian, a Man on Death Row, and a Magician walk into a Bar…
So a couple weeks ago I went to Gunderson auditorium to watch the comedian, Michael Palascak perform at our school. He was hilarious! I’m really glad I went. He gave us his business card at the end and I even joined his fan page on facebook:
I also went to the school’s performance of Dead Man Walking at North Campus. It’s a play about a man who is on death row and seeks out a nun named Sister Helen. It was amazing! The actors and actresses all did a fantastic job. I actually heard quite a few people in the stands crying. If you’ve ever seen the movie version of it with Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, the play is a lot like that.
Later on tonight, I plan on going to “Phenomenon” a show put on by the magician, Mike Super. It sounds like it’s going to be really astounding so I’m definately looking forward to that.
Well, that’s all for now!

The light at the end of the tunnel…
This semester has by far been the most stressful and overwhelming one i’ve had here at USF. It seems like all the professors plan projects to be due on the same dates and tests to be taken on the same day. I never get a moment’s rest. I almost always feel tired and it’s really starting to wear me down. Sometimes it’s so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I know it’s there. Spring break is less than 3 weeks away and after that it won’t be much longer until i’m done with this semester and moving on to my junior year. It’s a lot of hard work but I know in the end it will be worth it. In my nursing class, she showed us a video that I felt had a really great message so I thought I’d share it:

From Games back to Reality
This friday USF put on an event in the student center where they had tons of board games stacked on tables for students to use. My roomate and I decided to drag our friend Julie along who also brought her boyfriend. We met up with some other friends of mine there and played Apples to Apples. Eventually, our table kept growing throughout the game as more people joined. It was a good time. The rest of the weekend was filled with me attemtping to finish my loads of homework while trying my hardest not to get distracted by video games.
Today I was abruptly brought back into reality as almost our entire Basic nursing class bombed our quiz. Definately not one of my better days. About 10 minutes after the class I noticed some of my classmate’s facebook statuses (incuding mine) had changed to something about how much this semester is going to suck. Speaking of facebook someone showed me this today which I think definately sums up not only the life of a nursing student, but of college students in general:
1. Good grades, 2. Adequate sleep, 3. A social life…only pick two.
I guess it’s not entirely true..but trust me it’s hard and that reality sets in pretty quick.

Snow!
This week started off as one of the most stressful weeks I’ve had. I finally decided to write out a game plan as to when I would get certain homework assignments done (it helps, trust me). Well after going through my planner and realizing how hectic my entire semester was going to be, I thought I’d never keep my head above water. Luckily, we were blessed with a snow day on Wednesday. It gave me a day to finally take a breather and catch up some homework and much needed sleep.
Today, Campus Ministry had an event called Soup for Saints where we learn about a female saint and eat soup and snacks. Later tonight, SAC (student activities council) has planned an event in the student center with food, music and boardgames. It should be a lot of fun! It’ll be my one night to relax this weekend since I have a nursing quiz, a microbiology test, a check-off on catheters, a religion quiz, and plenty of other assignments next week to keep me busy.

Hello!
Hi! I’m Brittany, a student here at the University of St. Francis. This is my first blog so I figured I’d tell you a little about myself. I’m currently a sophomore here enrolled in the nursing program here at USF. So far I love it. Although it can be really stressful at times (especially when taking 17 credit hours) I can’t picture myself doing anything else. I also am a member of Campus Ministry. It’s a really great club here at USF and I’m so glad I get to participate in all of the activities they do. Lastly, I’m an ambassador for the university, which basically is a fancy way of saying I give tours to prospective students here.
That’s really all I have to say for now. I’m a very friendly and approachable person so if you ever have any questions about USF or about student life here (I live on campus) feel free to ask.
